XOOPS 2.5 Alpha review!

Since some things didn’t really run quite good at my review (my test installation), I’m going to make a new review later today ;)

As promised earlier today, here’s my review for XOOPS 2.5 alpha 1, which seems to have some neat features :D

Instantly after opening up my local XOOPS installation after I upgraded, is that there are a few new icons added (and some switched from place):

If I’m correct, the newly added icons are File Manager (if you go over it, you’ll get this text: You can add some changes in any file in your XOOPS) but it didn’t work (got blank screen).

Another new icon is System Configuration which gives this result:

Seems the icons aren’t loading yet – but that could be a problem of my local installation.

The next point I’ve watched is the avatar manager:

This looks real neat (except the few typo’s).  When you add an avatar and you click on the System Avatars, you’ll get to see this:

One of the best features in this is that you can see how many users are using a particular avatar. Could have been in earlier versions too, but that is something I never noticed than ;) .

The banner manager is AJAXed, but looks exactly the same – not interesting enough for a picture ^^

With the next change, I disagree a bit – it looks a bit worse then before – and I can’t drag-’n-drop anymore:

And more good news now! XOOPS has a lightbox! This is what the image manager looks like now (well, with an image open). For the rest it’s the same as in my previous review, but the image now is scaled properly and doesn’t go outside the box anymore

When I try to go to the Maintenance part, I get a strange error:

The modules look fairly the same:

Now, when I go to my preferences, I get a kinda messy view. But it looks good for the rest :)

AND NOW… the best of all… NEW SMILIES :D :

But this also gets close to the best…:

This looks very neat! We finally have an editor in XOOPS so we can edit files without using FTP. That’ll spare my FileZilla alot! (sorry for cutting pieces out of the picture ;) it’s a theme for an unannounced project so I have to keep it a bit secret ^^)

And the last one (my bandwith isn’t endless xD) is the user manager, which looks a lot better now!

It’s easier to use, and that’s a welcome change… I’m ready for XOOPS 2.5… are you?

I hope you liked my 2nd review :D
